“Best Regional Hotel Chain” at 18th TTG Travel Awards
October 26, 2007, Tokyo – JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Mamoru Tsutsumi) announced that the company’s main hotel brand, Nikko Hotels International, was selected as Best Regional Hotel Chain in Asia at the 18th TTG Travel Awards ceremony yesterday (Oct. 25) in Bangkok, Thailand. The awards ceremony, which has been held annually since 1989 with the exception of 2003, was hosted by Travel Trade Gazette Asia (TTG Asia), the travel trade publication with the biggest circulation in the Asia-Pacific region. For the hotel category, the winners were selected as a result of votes by travel agents, tour operators and destination management companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Readers of TTG’s publications, TTG Asia, TTGmice, Online TTG Daily News, TTG China and TTG-Btmice China, voted. The chain’s overall quality and excellent service were the basis for the award. Recently, the chain has seen vigorous expansion in Asia. It currently has a total of 51 hotels worldwide, including outside the Asia-Pacific region, such as in Europe and the Americas, 31 in Japan, five in China, and one each in Taipei, Manila, Jakarta, Bali, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Saipan, Guam and Palau. The company is especially focusing on expansion in China. It opened Hotel Nikko Tianjin in April, 2007, and plans to open Hotel Nikko Wuxi in 2009. Founded in Singapore in 1974, TTG Asia Media Pte Ltd. has established itself as one of the leading travel trade publishers and tourism-related event organizers in the Asia-Pacific region.
